Bottling Process

Starting Your Own Maple Syrup Brand: A Guide to Bottling and Equipment

Customers often choose to purchase bulk maple syrup from us to launch their own brands. This cost-effective method involves procuring wholesale maple syrup to be shipped directly to a bottling facility in their desired import country.

By purchasing maple syrup as raw materials in drums, the export process becomes more efficient and economical. With pasteurization carried out within the drums, and quality assured by the third-party organization ACER Division Inspection Inc., crossing borders becomes simpler and more cost-effective than with finished products.

For your convenience, we've assembled a set of instructions and essential equipment for bottling maple syrup:

  1. Transfer and Warmth: Upon receipt, your maple syrup will be at room temperature. Transfer it to a double boiler to gently warm it to 85°C. This step ensures pasteurization and quality maintenance.

  2. Bottling at 85°C: Transfer the warmed maple syrup into bottles at 85°C. Pasteurization within bottles guarantees extended shelf life.

  3. Sugar Concentration Adjustment: Be cautious not to over-concentrate the syrup during the double boiling process. Adjust the sugar level by adding water. Aim for a final sugar level between 66° and 68° brix.

  4. Bottle Selection: Avoid corked caps for long-term storage, as corks may dry out. Opt for smaller bottles (up to 250 ml) to ensure successful pasteurization. For larger bottles, pre-warm them with boiling water before filling.

Essential Equipment for Maple Syrup Bottling:

  • Brix Refractometer: Measures sugar content.
  • Digital Meter or Colorimeter: Gauges color and grade.
  • 120V Pump: Transfers syrup to the double boiler.
  • Double Boiler: Warms syrup before bottling.
